The world is alive
Walking under a late April sun, I am struck by the whining call of two peregrine falcons as they dive, intertwined, into the folds of a granite cliffside high above.
I take this as a divine invitation: look up.
The world is alive.
There was a time when we travelled by the stars. We set our compasses to the sky and marked our movements by the motions of the heavens. We knew instinctually that we needed to look up to be led.
The world is alive.
I will look up today. I will see myself in the stars and hold their wisdom like treasure close to my chest.
I will give myself grace today. I will not be led astray by a whirl of anxious doings.
I will sit today. I will drink my coffee and eat my breakfast and read Facts About the Moon.
I will listen to my wounds today. I will whisper with them and sing their songs and write their poems. And when we’re done, I will let them rest.
I will downshift today. I will not shove myself into mountains of my own making. I will climb slowly.
I will plant something today. I will nurture a seed that can grow into something beautiful. And I will take my time with the planting. I will watch for the signs of the seasons. I will dance with the signs of life.
I will honor my cycles today. I will allow my inner waters to flow. I will let my fields lie fallow until they are ready to bloom.
I will not extract every last bit of value out of my body today. I will sit with the living, breathing body that is Mother Earth and I will pray. I will sing my prayers, write my prayers, kiss my prayers, dance my prayers, live my prayers.
I will follow rivers today. I will remember love. I will trust my heart to lead the way.
The world is alive.
We are so much more than bodies and blood. We are rays of light living precious human lives. We are so much more than the heartbreaks and setbacks.
We are golden souls who deserve nothing less than whole.Â
Yes, the world is alive. And so are we. Savor this time. Let’s stretch our legs and smile if it feels good. Let’s dance through flower fields and braid daisy-chains.
May we lavish in this wealth of time.
on Taurus season
I love Taurus season. I love the sensory delights of late spring. The smell of life in the air. The taste of blueberries straight from our bush. The feeling of my feet planted firmly on the ground.
This time of year feels like a one big cosmic hug. Taurus, the constellation, was rising on the eastern horizon when I took my very first breath. When I descended from my mother’s womb, a door opened to a cosmic pathway lined with flowers and love for the fleshy, fertile parts of life.Â
I need rooted, grounded connection to Mama Earth to feel rooted and grounded in my own life. Sometimes, I swear I can hear the voice of the Eucalyptus tree behind our house, cooing in my ear. She is like a long-lost grandmother, returned to me, with only wisdom and love to share.
Every year, when the sun shines through the portal of the Bull something warm and cozy in me is set free. I seek to stretch time. I want to dance in fields of flowers. I want to walk barefoot. I want to hug trees.
I feel a message roaring from the stars: move slow and plant things.Â
Slow down. Savor. Notice. Rejoice in the mundane. Feel your body. Breathe deeply. Take up your rightful space.
Enjoy your time. Enjoy these bodies. Enjoy this life. Savor the slow and the simple.
Delight in it all.
8 ideas for Taurus season
Taurus is a fixed earth sign that is all about the sensual. The grounded. The simple. The slow. When we say fixed earth what we really mean is that Taurus is concerned, primarily, with the tangible: the here and now.
Here are 8 ideas for connecting with the most grounded you:
Take an Earth day. Give yourself a day to feel into Mother Earth. Go on a long hike. Smell the air. Notice the birds, listen to their songs.Â
Have a picnic at your favorite place in nature. Lay back on a blanket and soak up the spring sun.
Try this simple grounding practice: place your bare feet firmly on the ground. If you’re inside, place your feet on wood floors or a yummy carpet. If you’re somewhere in nature, sink your feet into a sandy shore or a patch of grass. Imagine your feet growing roots. Feel them taking space and connecting directly with Mother Earth. Breathe into the feeling of being firmly rooted.
Connect with your primal instincts. Kiss deeply. Make love.Â
Feel into your body. What do you notice? What do you feel between folds of skin and flesh?Â
Hug a tree.
Welcome a new plant friend into your home.
Resist the urge to succumb to speed. Move at your own pace. Trust your own timing.
Enchant Your Universe Cosmic Field Notes
I am so excited to be launching this monthly newsletter for the cosmically-inclined and mystically-curious among us. ✨🔮
If you've been a reader of mine for awhile, you’ll know that I love astrology. It has given me language for this feeling that I've had inside of my body for so long:
That just as I am reaching out to the universe to be seen and to be heard and validated, the universe is reaching back out to me. Astrology is a language we can use to mediate that space between the human and the divine. A tool to help us better understand this human experience from a cosmic perspective.
With each Cosmic Field Note you’ll gain learnings from ancient wisdom traditions like astrology and mythology, which we can use as practical tools for processing the ever-changing energetics of modern life.
Learn How Astrology Can Help You Discover Your Authentic Self with my first ever Cosmic Field Note!!
You’ll discover:
The history of astrology beginning 5,000 years ago
The philosophical foundations of modern astrology
What astrology truly is (and what it isn’t) outside of the constraints of mainstream sun sign astrology and into its deeper, more mystical realms.
The benefits of working with astrology in the 21st century as a tool for deeper self-inquiry and radical self-acceptance.
